Is Career Solutions a non-profit organization?

Yes. Career Solutions is a community-based, tax-exempt, charitable 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Yes! Our professional career counselors are trained to help you learn about the fields and professions that match your interests, skills, values and work styles.

Does Career Solutions offer testing services and what are the fees?

Yes. We offer the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Each test is $99.00, and includes a 50 minute interpretive session by a career counselor. We offer a discounted package for folks who do both the SII &MBTI: $149.00 and includes a 90 minute interpretive session. Participants in the Displaced Homemaker Program receive testing services at no cost.

Displaced Homemaker Services

Who are Displaced Homemakers?

Displaced Homemakers are people who have voluntarily been out of the competitive workforce for at least two years and who's primary role has been that of a caregiver to dependent family members (children, vulnerable or disabled adults, deployed military etc.). Displaced Homemakers may be working part-time jobs, but are not considered the primary income earner.

Who is eligible for Displaced Homemaker services?

Stay-at-home parents experiencing divorce, separation (physical or emotional), are escaping domestic/family violence, have been abandoned by a spouse or partner, be a person who's husband, wife or life partner has died or become disabled, are caregiversfor vulnerable or disabled adult family members, are spouses/partners of active duty military personnel, or are an unemployed military veteran who is dependent upon a family member for financial support.

Do I need to be on public assistance to use the Dispalced Homemaker program?

No. In fact, our goal is to empower you with the tools and information you need to avoid going on public assistance.

How much do Displaced Homemaker Program services cost?

Most of the participants in the Displaced Homemaker Program receive the service at no cost. Some individuals may receive services at a reduced rate, usually a $15.00 co-pay. The criteria for who receives free services and who is eligible for a co-pay are set by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (MNDEED). Career Solutions is a qualified provider of Displaced Homemaker Program services and is certified by MNDEED.

What are Displaced Homemaker services?

Career Solutions provides our Displaced Homemaker clients with one-to-one career counseling, vocational testing, supportive work/life transition counseling, career planning services and resources, community connection advocacy, educational/training planning, and workforce readiness classes (interviewing, job seeking skills, resume preparation etc.) Our counselors provide services at our main office in the St. Paul Midway (near the State Fairgrounds) and at community-based sites located in churches, libraries, workforce centers etc. throughout the seven county metro area.
